Casting for Peace:
Honoring the Brave, Reeling in Memories
Welcome to the Pop-Up STEM North Carolina Coastal Fishing Program for Children of Fallen Heroes!
We understand the challenges faced by families who have lost a loved one in service. Our pop-up events offer a chance to connect and learn about STEM in a fun, engaging way.
Fishing is a great way to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. At our events, you'll learn about fish anatomy, their diet, and habitats, as well as the impact of weather on fishing.
We provide all necessary equipment, including rods, reels, lures, and bait. You'll also discover the engineering behind fishing gear and boats, and how math helps in estimating fish size and weight.
Pop-Up STEM Sessions:
Fish Anatomy and Physiology: Learn how fish breathe, eat, and swim.
Weather and Fish: Understand how weather affects fishing and adjust techniques accordingly.
Fishing Equipment Design: Discover the principles behind designing strong, lightweight fishing gear, and fishfinder technology.
Fishing Safety: Learn safe fishing practices, equipment handling, and environmental awareness.
Marine Biology: Explore the marine ecosystem and its diverse life forms.
Math in Fishing: Practice math skills by calculating line amounts and estimating fish sizes.
Join us to support the Pop-Up STEM North Carolina Coastal Fishing program, honor your fallen hero, and create lasting memories while learning and growing together.
Children of Fallen Heroes supports children of fallen heroes, foster kids, caregivers, and the community with pop-up STEM events to engage and educate.
